OPPO announces new budget smartphone sub-brand called 'Realme'

In an effort to capture the growing budget smartphone market, OPPO in partnership with Amazon India has just announced a new smartphone brand called the 'Realme'. Now we all agree on this, that the naming is very odd for a smartphone brand and is similar to 'Redmi'.

Under this partnership, the first smartphone 'Realme 1' is slated to launch on the 15th of this month. Both the companies are teasing the smartphone on social media, giving us a hint at what the design will look like. From the teasers it's clear that OPPO is going after Xiaomi's Redmi lineup.
